Howden Re names new MD for marine, energy, and terror treaty
He started his career in underwriting before moving into broking
Howden Re has appointed Andy Foot (pictured above) as managing director of the marine, energy & terror treaty reinsurance division.
Foot joined the team this month and will focus on expanding the company’s presence in the London and US markets. His responsibilities will include the placement of consortia and binders, as well as working with cedants to develop solutions for multi-class and whole account portfolios.
Foot brings extensive experience from his previous role at Aon, where he spent 22 years in the specialty reinsurance division, leading US marine and energy. He also served as a senior London practice broker, working across various lines and business areas.
Before moving into broking, Foot began his career in underwriting with positions at Folkam, UK, ERC Frankona, and Reliance International, gaining experience in the marine and energy sectors.
“I’ve known Andy for a long time and I’m thrilled to welcome him to the business. He has hit the ground running and brought with him the entrepreneurial approach, technical expertise and client service commitment that sets Howden apart,” said Bradley Maltese, CEO of UK & global specialties at Howden Re. “I look forward to working with him and the team to build on the momentum we have created in global specialty reinsurance broking.”
In other recent developments, the global reinsurance specialist also announced a three-month reciprocal early careers talent exchange program with Moody’s.
This initiative involves the exchange of graduate analytical team members to enhance their modeling, analytics, and client service skills while expanding their professional networks.
“Our partnership with Moody’s supports our delivery of data and technology-driven solutions to clients worldwide, and will now contribute directly to our team development. This talent exchange will not only enhance the skills of our junior analysts but also strengthen the collaborative spirit between our teams, driving innovation and excellence in the reinsurance industry,” said Massimo Reina, Howden Re International CEO.
